Volunteers are trained to read aloud to children and then present a regular 30-minute storytime in a classroom in the Monroe Township, Jamesburg or East Windsor school districts. RAVE (Read Aloud Volunteer Ensemble) is a cooperative program sponsored by the Monroe Township Library, Monroe Township Office on Aging, and the Monroe Township Board of Education.For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at extension 116. ![]() Students are individually paired with an adult or high school volunteer from the community who will help them practice their math skills and/or reading skills over the summer months. Math and Reading Partners is a summer program for children finishing Grades K-5.For more information, contact the Youth Services department at extension 116. Community service hours are awarded for those who volunteer. To be a tutor, you just have to speak English clearly, be comfortable doing elementary math and/or reading, and enjoy working with younger kids. Math and Reading Buddies individually pairs high school volunteers with elementary and middle school students who need to practice math or reading skills. ![]() To join, stop by the Library and fill out a Kids for Kids application or contact the Youth Services department at extension 116 for more information. The Monroe Township Library and Monroe Township Schools jointly sponsor this program. They publish the newsletter “Kids World”, sponsor a poetry contest, volunteer at the Library and much more.
